Say Hello to Dora Hiers and Beck's Peace

First of all, let me tell you how much I adore today's guest on A Minute with Marianne. I had the honor of meeting Dora face-to-face in Chicago a few years ago, and she's as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. A true gem of a friend and what a talented author. I'm also blessed by the opportunity to share blog space with her at Seriously Write. In all, she's a dear friend, and I'm delighted to welcome her back and bring you up to date on what's new in her writer world!

After a successful auditing career, Dora left the corporate world to be a stay-at-home mom to her two sons. When her youngest son no longer wanted her hanging out at school with him anymore, Dora started writing Heart Racing, God-Gracing romance. She is a member of Romance Writers of America (RWA) and her local chapter, Carolina Romance Writers.

Dora and her real life hero make their home in North Carolina. When she takes a break from cranking out stories, she enjoys reading, family gatherings, and mountain cabin getaways. She despises traffic, bad coffee, technological meltdowns, and a sad ending to a book. Her books always end with a happily-ever-after!

Dora loves to mix and mingle with her readers, so here's where to find her:

So, now that you've met this lovely lady, let's take a look at BECK'S PEACE, her brand new release from Pelican Book Group!

*****

Burn survivor Savvy McCord doesn't blame her best friend for running away. She can't even look at her scars without wincing. When Beck's disappearing act spans years, she relinquishes dreams of love and marriage.

Unable to face Savvy's expectations of happily-ever-after, Beck Harmon deserts her, far away from the rumors that he's just like his father.

When the wanderer returns, dreams of forever blossom in Savvy's heart, but she worries he'll leave again.

Can Beck convince Savvy that her true beauty comes from her inner strength and faith? Will his idea to help burn victims regain their self-confidence restore Savvy's trust in him? Will love be what the wanderer needs to find peace for his hurting soul?

*****

Here's a juicy tidbit:

His head dipped to within a fraction of a centimeter, his short wisps of breath teasing her.
She licked her lips, anticipating, waiting…

It didn’t take long….but yet, it felt like a lifetime.

His lips grazed hers, just a hint of a kiss. He pulled back, and then with an anguished moan, his hands curled around her waist to bring her tight against his chest. All she could breathe was summer and outdoors, hard work and leather, horses and hay. All things she loved.

Just like the man.

Heaven had come to earth.

That’s what his kiss felt like. Intoxicatingly sweet, but laced with a powerful sensation, a connecting, not just of the heart, but also of minds and spirits, swirling together to form a tight bond, filled with a promise of love.

But look where his last kiss had left her.

Alone.

Oh, my! Do you want more? Well, of course you do! Here are the purchase links so you can grab a copy ASAP:

Enjoy, friends, and until next time, keep shining!

ANDREA AND THE 5-DAY CHALLENGE

Dear Lord,
I need Your help and sooner would be better than later. Wouldn't you know it, just as soon as I decide to attempt the 5-Day Bible Study Challenge, my parents start heaping on loads of pressure to get me into Julliard. My friend Amy isn't any better, urging me to ask Luke Ryan to homecoming. As if the cute, transfer jock would actually go out with me. I mean, we're kinda friends, and I've enjoyed our Geometry study sessions, but in case Amy hasn't noticed, I'm the invisible one at Aubrey Christian Academy, and I like it that way. On top of that, I have a feeling Luke's concealing something behind those chocolate-brown eyes of his. I know I can be self-centered and a bit melodramatic, but I really do want to seek Your will for my life. Then maybe I'll even figure out which direction points up.

Sincerely,
Andrea Jamison

MARIANNE'S REVIEW

I think what I enjoyed most about Andrea and the 5-Day Challenge is that she reminds me of me when I was a teen—quirky but hopeful. Andrea’s life is a roller coaster,  overwhelming at times—but she paves her way through challenges and doubts  by leaning on her friends, her faith and a wonderful young man who sweeps into her life. With humor and heart, Cindy K Green puts right in the middle of Andrea’s world, which is a treat. I love finding great YA books like this one that are geared toward Christians. Really looking forward to what happens next at Aubrey Christian Academy!

MARIANNE'S REVIEW

With a deft hand at characterization and a plot line that features enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, Ashley Ludwig has crafted a wonderful, emotion packed Christian romance. Jake and Lilah's story touched my heart because they are relate-able. The scene-setting is top notch as well. I can't wait for what's next from this gifted author!

My Writing Process

When wearing my writing hat, the question I'm asked most often is: 'How do you do it?'

When my good friend and gifted colleague MaryAnn Diorio invited me to join the 'My Writing Process' blog tour, I knew it would be a fun opportunity to provide a response. Thank you, MaryAnn, for including me, and before I dive into my writing world, I want to let you know a little about her!

Dr. MaryAnn Diorio writes compelling fiction that deals with the deepest issues of the human heart. She is Online Adjunct Professor of Fiction Writing at Regent University and the author of A CHRISTMAS HOMECOMING. She is married, the mom of two wonderful daughters, and grandmother to precious 17-month-old granddaughter Annamarie Joy. You can connect with her at: http://www.maryanndiorio.com

Now, it's my turn at the keyboard. I can’t wait to share a bit about my writing process!

What are you working on?

I have two projects in the ‘writing’ stages right now, six projects in the editing/release stages and a proposal in the works for a three-book series.

My writing projects are Forgiveness, coming soon from Harbourlight Books and Nobody’s Baby But Mine coming soon from White Rose Publishing (both imprints of Pelican Book Group). The ones that are in the works are also coming soon from Pelican: my four-book Sisters in Spirit series as well as Date Night and Then and Now.

Tentatively I refer to my future project as The Fishermen Series because their last name is Fisher, and it involves three brothers born and bred in rural Indiana. The series arc reveals the ways God uses them for His mission field in ways that are nothing short of miraculous. I’m excited about diving into the mind-set of these men since I just finished my ‘Sisters’ series!

How does your work differ from others in its genre?

I think my writing differs from others in my genre because I’m determined to tell stories from a Christian world-view and perspective, while all the while challenging myself to keep it real. The conflicts, the messes life (and our choices) can bring to light might appear hopeless at first, and overwhelming, but nothing is beyond God’s power, His love and redemption.

Also, I’m a firm believer in sharing the exhilaration and joy of falling in love—the tummy tickles, the sparkles, the rush of attraction. I’m a bit more sensual (though always appropriate, no worries!) when it comes to my hero and heroine discovering their connection.

Why do you write what you do?

I began my professional career with four secular releases. Three were published by Kensington and one by The Wild Rose Press. All four were contemporary romances because exploring the theme of love resounds with me. It celebrates what’s best about who we are. All the while, though, I felt a pull toward something more, something that delivers the truth of a love that goes much deeper and truer than anything we’ll ever find here on earth, and that’s the love of God through the birth, life, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.

How does your writing process go?

I have to begin by saying I’m married to a prince. OK, well, actually he’s a king. Seriously. He’s the former king of the Allen County 4-H Fair, and he more than lives up to the title. Every night during the work week I spend an hour or two at my computer, writing, while he cooks dinner. What a blessing and gift to have his unwavering support! I write on my lunch hours as well, but more often than not I use my lunch time to eat, and power walk to keep myself fit.

Beyond that, my weekends are ‘go’ time. I try to treat my writing weekends like a job all their own. I put in eight hours (sometimes more if I’m on a roll). Sometimes I write at home, sometimes I change things up by writing at coffee shops around town. Spring and summer are awesome because I can sit outside and enjoy writing alfresco.

And now, I'd like to introduce next week’s participant in the blog tour. Say hello to Tanya Hanson! Check out her writing process revelations on June 16th!

After a career as a high school English teacher, Tanya Hanson now writes both inspirational and secular Western romances. A native Californian, she thanks God daily for the blessings of good health, a happy home, and exciting travels.Connect with her at: www.tanyahanson.com

Until next time, friends, be blessed!

A Warm Welcome to Sunday's Child & Clare Revell!

Having written a few 'books-in-a-series,' I can completely relate to something my good friend Clare Revell said the other day. She expressed joy at being able to share the concluding book in her fabulous Days of the Week series coupled with an equal sadness that, upon the release of Sunday's Child, the series had come to a close.

Yep. Been there, done that. As writers, we move into new stories, into new characters, but those we've created never truly leave our hearts.

So, with pleasure, I offer this spotlight and my review of Sunday's Child. Clare, I look forward to what's next!!!

BLURB:

Sunday’s Child on life seas is tossed, awaiting the lifeboat that rescues the lost…

Hattie Steele feels like the world is passing her by. Her entire life revolves around the guest house she runs in Headley Cross with her overbearing twin brother. He even attempts to undermine her friendship with a handsome guest. Not that famous ex-footballer, Callum Trant would ever give her a second glance. Hoping to regain control of her life, Hattie takes a well-earned holiday with her aunt on Penry Island.

After retiring from football, Callum Trant divides his time between the family business and volunteering as helm officer on a lifeboat. Danger is nothing new for him. But when he’s called out on a shout and finds the beautiful innkeeper from Headley Cross on a sinking vessel, Callum realizes his heart is in danger.

But could Hattie ever forget his womanizing past and feel the same way? Or will a dangerous rescue end the relationship before its had time to grow?

EXCERPT:

Cal turned the boat and headed into the heart of the storm, keeping the bow of the boat into the breaking waves. Visibility was down to five feet.

“There’s another flare,” Sam yelled. “But doesn’t look the same direction.”

“Radar’s got something.” Cal squinted at the screen.

“There. Two o’clock, there’s a light.”

Cal aimed the boat at the faint light he could see between the towering waves. As he grew closer he could see the hull of the boat with a figure clinging to it. “Phil, toss the rope to him. If he catches it, bring him in that way. If not rope up and go get him.” He touched the mic button.

“Penry base this is Ray of Hope. Found the Petunia Bay. We will need assistance to tow the capsized boat out of shipping lane. One in the water.”

“Roger that, Cal. Will send out the RHIB.”

Cal brought the boat around, bringing it in closer to the wrecked cruiser. He watched the figure on the boat catch the rope. Then he brought the lifeboat right alongside the upturned hull. Phil and Sam grabbed the man and pulled him into the safety of the lifeboat.

“Is there anyone else with you?” Sam asked.

“Harriet. Where is she? Did you pick her up, too?”

Hattie’s out here? A stab of fear filling him, Cal turned in his seat, hoping he was wrong. The soaked figure was as unmistakable as his clipped posh accent. He wanted to berate the man for being stupid, but now wasn’t the time. “Where did you last see her, Markus?”

“Didn’t you find her yet?”

“We barely found you. Where did you last see her?” Oh, God, keep her safe out here.

“Before we capsized. The boat flipped over so fast. When I came up she was gone.”

Trevor turned the searchlight on the water around them.

“Sam, check Markus over.” Cal yelled, fear twisting his gut.

“I’m fine. Harriet was hurt before she went into the water. She hit her arm on something, and couldn’t use it.”

“You’re being checked over regardless. Trevor, rope up in case you need to go in. If she’s hurt she won’t be able to hold onto the rope.”

“Aye, aye.”

Did he imagine a faint call for help carried on the wind? “Aim that light over to the right.” The search light caught sight of something yellow floating on the waves in the distance. Cal turned the boat around on a dime. Please let it be her.

“There!” Sam yelled.

Cal nodded and accelerated the boat towards the small yellow shape the light picked out. He came in close to the figure and Trevor dived over the side into the maelstrom. Waves crashed over and around them, spray threatening the stability of the boat.

MARIANNE'S REVIEW:

Clare Revell never fails to deliver a romantic thrill ride. Her latest series, covering the seven days of the week, comes to a pitch-perfect close in the pages of Sunday’s Child. Retired football player (Soccer, mind you) Callum Trant now serves as a volunteer lifeboat helmsman with the RNLI running rescue operations at sea (talk about high drama!). Hattie Steele, meanwhile, is a ‘nester’ – a cook and hospitality specialist helping her brother run a vacation lodge. Hattie and Cal come together amidst the literal, and figurative, storms of life and have to fight a sinister element of Hattie’s family past in order to find a way to calmer seas…and the love of a lifetime.

Enjoy, friends, and thanks for stopping by!

A Giveaway & Celebrating the Release of By Appointment Only

It's a Sunday after-church tradition. Following Mass, my husband and I head straight to National Coney Island for breakfast. It's a family-style diner. There's dish clatter, a flood of conversation, kids laughing (and crying!) and folks wiping sleep from their eyes as they hunker in with a cup of coffee, some pancakes, or some bacon and eggs.

It's comfort, and comfort food, that's as familiar to us as a sunrise, and we've even gotten to know a number of the waitresses. When my husband had hip replacement, a few of them even made it a point to stop by and chat, wondering how his recovery progressed. I love this place, and it became the inspiration for my Sal's Place Series.

After all, can't you  imagine Jennifer strolling the aisles, taking orders and serving customers with a smile? Sal Cocossa hard at work cooking behind the flat top grill? Luke and Callie West having dinner together? Ryan Douglas stopping in for a quick cup of coffee while patrolling the streets of Detroit?

Today, Sal's Place has a new entry - By Appointment Only! I want you to get to know Matt Bellinger and Heather Cavanaugh - so, to celebrate, I'm giving away an autographed, print copy of Search & Rescue (Book 1) and Beautiful Music (Book 2). All you have to do is leave a comment, talking about your favorite spot to savor down-home comfort food and casual atmosphere. I can't wait to hear from you! Don't worry about reading the series in order, or being lost if you haven't read them all - these are stand-alone romances full of faith, hope, and love.

Giveaway winners will be announced next Saturday right here at the blog, so be sure to check back!

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY  ~ BLURB

Political dynamo Matt Bellinger understands he has an unyielding responsibility to work hard for the betterment of his community and the world around him. Life, he believes, should be built strictly on effort and tangibles, not an elusive faith.

But that belief is challenged when a bill to spearhead volunteerism leads him to canvassing efforts at Detroit's legendary diner, Sal's Place, and a meeting with Heather Cavanaugh. His polar opposite, the street-smart beauty challenges his heart and perceptions. She's the head stylist at Optiva, a trendy, upscale hair salon in downtown Detroit, as well as a tireless volunteer giving back to the city she loves in honor of the God she serves.

Love blooms, gradually shifting Matt's perceptions. But when a life-threatening illness in his family challenges that fledgling faith, will he be able to hold fast to his newfound beliefs? Will he discover that faith makes all things possible and love makes all things beautiful?

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY ~ EXCERPT

Matt made it to the hospital in plenty of time to give Mandy’s untethered arm a gentle squeeze and dot her forehead with a kiss. He loved the way her eyes lit up at the sight of his gift—a big, pink teddy bear with get-well-soon balloons tied to its paws. Once the pre-operative sedative kicked in, Mandy became sluggish, so Matt followed his family out of the room. Only Rick and Stephanie stayed behind.

In the waiting room, the O’Connors and a few couples from Rick and Stephanie’s church that Matt had never met before convened to wait for word from the OR. As a group, they joined hands and murmured a prayer. Matt watched, compelled by the scene, and he thought instantly of Heather, of how readily and easily she had prayed at dinner, just like these people prayed now. She was comfortable with her faith and her beliefs, as well as the pattern of her life.

Matt felt a stab of yearning that had nothing to do with the love he held for Heather. Rather, the ache that swelled through his chest as the prayer session ended stemmed from the fact that he could feel the peace that flowed. He saw it in their eyes and in the more relaxed way they moved.

But he couldn’t taste it for himself. He was an outsider, hungry yet rootless, staring through plate glass at a feast meant to fill and quench.

How, he wondered, could he ever break through?

“Hey there, handsome.”

From behind, that quiet, subdued summons reached his ears…then entered his heart.

Matt spun, face-to-face with Heather who stepped straight into his arms and held on tight.

The love that washed through him was so powerful, words failed.

Sal's Place / Search & Rescue

Welcome to Sal's Place!

Step up to the counter, take a seat and I'll have the waitress pour some coffee while we chat about Search and Rescue.

I've always been fond of family-owned, mom-and-pop style eateries. Setting a series of inspy romances in a time-honored diner located by the Detroit Riverfront speaks of all things cozy and loving. The idea appealed to the foodie in me, and the result is a four-book series from Pelican Book Group called, you guessed it, Sal's Place.

Search and Rescue has just debuted, and I'm dying to give you all the details so you can join the journey ~ I hope you love reading these stories as much as I loved creating them!

So, make yourself at home! Enjoy the blurb and excerpt. Leave me a comment, with e-mail contact info - and you'll be entered to win a $15 gift certificate to Pelican Book Group as well as a personally autographed, print edition of Hearts Communion, Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year in Romance! Winner announced, appropriately enough, on February 14th - Valentine's Day!!!

BLURB:

Holding on for a hero...

Jennifer Foster isn’t one for fairytales. As a source of emotional support for her troubled mother she doesn’t have time.Grounded in the practicality of living day-by-day, the tenderhearted waitress loves to swap food and affection with the regulars at Detroit's legendary diner, Sal’s Place.

When a robbery at the diner sends her life spinning into the capable arms of a Detroit Police officer, Ryan Douglas steps to the forefront of her life, whether she's ready to accept his loving care or not. But Ryan contends with his own set of family difficulties and circumstances that just might overwhelm their fledgling relationship.

Will the blending of their lives, and the love they feel, bring about heartbreak, or will God’s ultimate plan be allowed to play out, and bring them both to a point of acceptance, and love’s embrace?

EXCERPT:

“Hey, Sal, Mrs. Peterson’s sending back her order of spaghetti.” Jennifer Foster put a touch of spin on the rejected plate when she slid it across the metal dividing shelf between the kitchen and service areas. “She says she wants her noodles al dente.”

Sal Cocossa scowled. He planted his fists on hips covered by a speckled white apron. “Seriously.”

“She called it a pile of mush, but go easy. She’s having a bad day. Mr. Peterson’s back in the hospital.”

Sal’s expression immediately eased. “Is it his heart again?”

Jennifer nodded.

“So, you talked to her?”

"For the past couple minutes. Poor thing. She’s pretty much a wreck about it.”

“Fifty years of marriage tend to act on a person that way.” Sal gave a nod and returned his attention to the stove, sliding and jiggling a sauté pan full of caramelizing green pepper and onion, a generous heap of crumbled, homemade sausage, and diced garlic cloves. “I’ll take care of the replacement.

"Thanks, Jenny-Lynn. You’re good people.”

Jennifer adored sixty-year-old Salvatore Cocossa, III and let him know it in the way she fluttered her lashes and smiled into his eyes. “Thanks, boss. Let’s give her al dente…and hope she doesn’t dente her teeth when she crunches into it.”

The quip inspired a spontaneous burst of Sal’s rich, chesty laughter. The reaction warmed Jennifer through.

A moment later, Sal called out the new spaghetti order then scooped up a whisk and lifted a metal bowl, scrambling up some eggs, back to work in the kitchen—master of the legendary diner, Sal’s Place.

Sal’s Place was an old fashioned, family-owned diner located on the Detroit riverfront. The restaurant had claimed its spot on the roadmap of Motown ever since the roaring twenties. Back then, Sal’s great-grandfather had opened and operated the restaurant. In those days, the juggernaut that was the industrial age had lifted Detroit to greatness and times weren’t just good—they were spectacular.

Jennifer’s glance touched upon black and white photos that chronicled the history of the diner. After ten years at Sal’s Place, she knew them by rote. The visual timeline crossed the walls like a history quilt. Her subsequent glance through the windows of the eatery told a much sadder story. Decayed buildings were barely lit against a fast descending early-autumn evening. Intermittent headlights from infrequent cars flashed against dingy bricks; some of the masonry was decorated by graffiti. To say this proud, tough city had fallen upon hard times would be gross understatement.

Battling a swell of sadness, Jennifer pulled away from the blight and returned her focus to the warm, bright atmosphere of the diner. She thought about Mrs. Peterson and sadness turned into compassion. The food at Sal’s Place was top rate; Jennifer knew there was nothing wrong with Sonya Peterson’s order, but she also realized the overburdened, elderly woman had suffered much lately. Sonya needed understanding—and a healthy dose of good fortune. Jennifer knew the feeling, so she championed the idea of cutting this warmhearted regular a bit of slack for ornery behavior.

Awaiting the new plate of food, Jennifer took in the crowd. She checked the lineup of full tables on this Saturday night. There were plenty. Then she automatically tracked back to the front door, where a line of customers were queued to be seated. The place was jumping.

She took note of two uniformed men standing at the head of the line. Glimmering silver chest badges identified them both as members of the 3rd Precinct of the Detroit PD. They were vaguely familiar—semi-regulars. Being a hometown girl, Jennifer knew there was no more gritty form of serve and protect imaginable. Crime prevention—in downtown Detroit? Her problems amounted to nothing by comparison to what these men must witness each day. Her pulse quickened in automatic reflex. Talk about nobility in the face of daunting odds.

Besides, what was it about a handsome man in a uniform?

One in particular captured her focus and held it fast. He was the taller one, who sported the stripes of a Sergeant, short raven hair and a strong, solid build. He looked her straight in the eyes then quirked his lips in a deliberate form of acknowledgement. The reaction left Jennifer to wonder if he hadn’t somehow heard the exchange with Sal.

Her brows furrowed and the striking, mahogany-eyed man gave her a nod. Something in the undercurrents of that innocent moment left Jennifer acutely aware of herself. She flushed head to toe beneath his lingering regard and promptly looked elsewhere. Snagging a coffee pot—decaf due to the time of day—she prepared to make the rounds and return for Sonya’s plate once Sal called her table ticket. It’d be best, she figured, to move on to more worthwhile pursuits than ogling.

Still, while she moved through the restaurant, Jennifer watched Celia, their long-time hostess direct the two officers toward a booth. Sure enough, they ended up at one of Jennifer’s stations. Expectation danced along her nerve endings. Determinedly she doused that reaction and clutched the handle of the steaming glass carafe. Heat stemmed from nothing more than a temporary flame of infatuation, she thought, a headiness derived from the impact of a crisp, royal blue uniform. Or, maybe it was all that tough muscle juxtaposed against those warm eyes and that soft, knowing smile…

The officers sat. When the object of Jennifer’s admiration happened to look her way, she caught her breath and spun away fast, grateful she didn’t believe in mental telepathy. Strangely enough, though, being watched by the man left her feeling as though she had landed dead-center of VIP radar…if only for a moment or two.

Well, she thought ruefully, so much for not ogling.

Intrigued?? I sure hope so! Here's where you can find Search & Rescue:

MARIANNE'S REVIEW

Any book that begins with the scripture Jeremiah 29:11-13 is going to grab my attention straight away. This formative verse is so applicable to the wonderful story Revell creates in Wednesday’s Child.

I’m enjoying her spin on a time-honored nursery rhyme and the ways in which she weaves each day’s verse into a spine-tingling suspense novel. (I have to admit: I’ve gotten sneak peeks at all of Clare’s covers for this series, and Wednesday’s Child is my favorite. What an amazing, straight on depiction of the hero! But I digress…)

Liam Page is wounded. The burdens he carries tug your heart. I love the ordained way in which he meets our more than worthy heroine, Jacqui Dorne. Their paths, we discover, were meant to intersect—not just on a professional but on a personal level as well.

Some of my favorite stories deal with the issue of why God allows bad things to happen to seemingly innocent people. Add to that theme the threat of a menacing villain and you have the recipe for a great page-turner. Revell writes with a clean style and a keen sense of romance and suspense. Balancing the two can be tricky, but in her hands and heart the combination works and engages the reader to the last page.

Revell delivers on all counts in this offering, and I look forward to Thursday’s Child – coming soon from Pelican Book Group!

Mosey on Down to Heart's Crossing Ranch With Tanya Hanson!

Please welcome back to the blog a treasured friend and multi-dimensional writer, Tanya Hanson. Tanya writes in a number of genres, but always with a flair, and passion, for all things western (and all things cowboy!) She's got something for everyone - what's not to love?

Let's find out about Tanya, her writing, and her latest release, book six in the Heart's Crossing Ranch series - Angel Child!
First off, Tanya, what inspired you to write this book? What drove its creation?

It’s the sixth in a series. When I was asked for synopses for stories about the eight siblings of a Colorado ranch, I knew one of them would feature a little boy who is challenged by Angelman Syndrome, as is my godson.

I think that's what so appealing about your writing, you've witnessed and/or lived through a number of the circumstances you depict in your stories. They're so real and engaging! What’s a typical writing day like for you?

After a career teaching high school English, where I knew every second of every day where I’d be, I now enjoy being a free spirit LOL. Hubby is retired, and he still likes to hang out with me, even doing mundane things like grocery shopping or gardening. I nearly lost him to testicular cancer, so time with him is extra-precious. When the weather’s nice, I take my laptop outside and write on the patio, usually in the afternoon. I am soooo not a morning person.

When did you realize you were called to be a writer?

I think I’ve been writing stories in my head ever since I learned words. But the key moment was reading Little Women when I was eight years old. I knew then I’d someday be a writer. However, I waited far too long to try--until the kids went off to college. Sheesh.

What are you currently reading?

After seeing David McCullough interviewed on Sixty Minutes recently, I realized I need to finish John Adams! After that, it’ll be time for Finding Home. I so love London, Christmas, and you! It’s like the trifecta!

Oh, you sweet thing - what a wonderful compliment coming from someone I respect and admire so much! Here's a toughie: What’s item number one on your bucket list?

Watching an eagle fly. I’ve seen two wounded eagles close up at a rescue zoo, and nesting in ricks along the highway in Wyoming during our city slicker wagon train trip, but I want to see one soaring through the clouds.

That sounds awesome!! What’s your favorite comfort food?

Banana bread. My gramma made it best. She is my personal hero, a truly good woman.

What's coming up next for you?

Western historical romance. I am finishing two series I have going at The Wild Rose Press. I love the Old West setting and have Kansas hometeaders in my blood. MyAncestry.com is going to keep me busy--my resolution for 2013. Then I will probably try self-publishing with a full-length western historical inspirational I’m finishing up.

You're a busy lady - and we'll have lots to look forward to! Yay! Where and how can folks connect with you?

A web-friend is helping me design www.goodchristiancowgirls.com [withgirls plural] so maybe I’ll garner a group of western gals to follow me someday!

I'll be the first in line, Tanya! Now, let's take a closer look at Angel Child - those Martin brothers - they sure are spectacular!

ANGEL CHILD BLURB:

Determined to get her life back on track, Mary Grace Gibson takes on a substitute-teaching job, grateful for the room and board offered at Hearts Crossing Ranch. The bustling family life helps her heal after abandonment by her ex. But her little boy’s serious disabilities make her cautious about revealing her secrets to anybody. Even Scott Martin, the handsome cowboy who’s fast stealing her heart.

Her former student now grown up, cowboy and graphic artist Scott Martin is instantly drawn to the beautiful single mom. She’s had some hard luck but never let go of her faith. Their age gap doesn’t fret him, and their kisses ignite his love. But as they fall for each other, Mary Grace’s lack of trust in him shatters his feelings, for he’s been down that broken trail before.
